The Chungnam Provincial Council has newly formed the 4th Ethics Special Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Ethics Committee) and has officially begun its activities.
On July 15, during the first session of the 360th extraordinary meeting, the council elected Lee Jaeun (People Power Party, Gyeryong) as the chairperson of the Ethics Committee and Yoon Gihyung (People Power Party, Nonsan 1) as the vice chairperson.
Previously, on June 24, during the 4th plenary session of the 359th regular meeting, the council appointed a total of nine members to the Ethics Committee.
The 4th Ethics Committee consists of nine members: Chairperson Lee Jaeun, Vice Chairperson Yoon Gihyung, Bang Hanil (People Power Party, Yesan 1), Hong Gihu (Democratic Party of Korea, Dangjin 3), Koo Hyungseo (Democratic Party of Korea, Cheonan 4), Kim Seontae (Democratic Party of Korea, Cheonan 10), Park Miok (People Power Party, Proportional Representation), Shin Sunok (People Power Party, Proportional Representation), and Shin Youngho (People Power Party, Seocheon 2).
The Ethics Committee reviews and handles matters related to ethical reviews, disciplinary actions, and qualification examinations of council members. The committee's term runs from July 3, 2025, to June 30, 2026.
Chairperson Lee Jaeun stated, "The Ethics Committee serves as the final line of defense for maintaining the dignity and responsibility of council members. Based on principles and fairness, we will foster a culture of integrity in legislative activities and build a Chungnam Provincial Council that earns the trust of the residents."
Through the formation of this Ethics Committee, the Chungnam Provincial Council aims to further strengthen the council's accountability and transparency and to realize clean legislative practices that meet the expectations of the residents.
