Geochang County announced on the 16th that it held the 2025 Second Half Year Return-to-Farming Policy Committee at the Future Agriculture Complex Education Center of the Agricultural Technology Center, with seven participants including Kim Gyutae, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center.

This committee was convened to review and select recipients for the Return-to-Farming Agricultural Startup and Housing Purchase Support Program, which targets return-to-farming individuals and non-farming residents living in rural areas.

The committee members comprehensively evaluated the feasibility of the applicants' business plans, their willingness to settle in the region, and the appropriateness of their loan repayment plans, and selected the recipients accordingly.

This program is designed to help return-to-farming individuals and others settle stably in agriculture and rural communities. It provides startup funds of up to 300 million won for farmland purchases, construction of livestock barns or greenhouses, and agricultural machinery purchases. In addition, it offers up to 75 million won for housing purchases, with an annual interest rate of 2%, a five-year grace period, and a ten-year installment repayment plan. The program is implemented twice a year, in the first and second half.

Meanwhile, Geochang County is operating various support programs to help return-to-farming and return-to-rural individuals settle stably, including "Living in Geochang for a Month," agricultural settlement subsidies for return-to-farming households, establishment of return-to-farming houses, operation of an agricultural college for returnees, an agricultural internship program for return-to-farming individuals, and hands-on training for new farmers.

An official from the county stated, "We will continue to promote a variety of practical programs to support the successful settlement of return-to-farming and return-to-rural individuals."
