On July 16, Hyundai Elevator announced that it will take measures to prevent elevator flooding damage caused by heavy summer rains. Hyundai Elevator also participated in the on-site intensive inspections conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, which targeted 225 elevators that experienced flooding damage last year.
In preparation for the rainy season, Hyundai Elevator is conducting intensive inspections at elevator maintenance and management sites nationwide. The company is focusing on activities to prevent flooding and water leakage due to heavy rain, as well as providing guidance on response methods. At the same time, Hyundai Elevator has developed a 'flood detection system' package to minimize safety risks and facility damage for customers, and will launch a promotion for this package starting in August.

According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, there were a total of 1,633 elevator accidents related to flooding?including malfunctions due to electrical short circuits and passengers being trapped?over the past four years from 2021 to 2024. In August last year, a fatal accident caused by elevator flooding occurred for the first time.
In response, Hyundai Elevator introduced an elevator pit flood detection system last year. This year, the company is moving forward with full-scale sales. The flood detection system is a device that, when flooding is detected, moves the elevator to an intermediate floor to minimize harm to passengers and damage to facilities.
A Hyundai Elevator representative stated, "As elevator flooding accidents caused by heavy summer rains are increasing, the importance of preventing damage through early detection is growing," and added, "We have decided to launch a promotion for the flood detection system to ensure safe elevator use for passengers."
