Under the agreement, Cheonil Energy will collect, transport, and recycle various types of waste and timber waste generated at highway rest areas, maintenance sites, and construction sites in an environmentally friendly manner. A portion of the revenue generated from this process will be returned to society.

In particular, the two companies will establish a cooperative system to recycle not only recyclable waste such as plastic waste, scrap paper, and glass bottles, but also coffee grounds and non-incinerable household waste.

The Seoul-Gyeonggi Headquarters of the Korea Expressway Corporation expects this agreement to reduce the annual cost of processing rest area waste by approximately 600 million won and to achieve additional budget savings by processing timber waste free of charge.

Going forward, the Seoul-Gyeonggi Headquarters plans to work with rest area operators to ensure that the savings from reduced waste processing costs are returned to the community and customers through measures such as discounts on rest area food prices and the expansion of customer convenience facilities.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Cheonil Energy donated 10 million won to the Expressway Scholarship Foundation.
