The Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office announced on the 15th that on the 14th, it visited the bereaved family of the late Choi Ogwon, who was registered as a Korean War veteran, and presented them with the new government's "Presidential Certificate of Merit."


The government awards the "Presidential Certificate of Merit" to honor the sacrifice and contributions of veterans and to ensure that the spirit of patriotism is permanently carried on.


The spouse who received the certificate said, "My husband was always proud of having fought for his country throughout his life. I am truly grateful that the nation has not forgotten him and has come to visit us like this."


Kim Seokki, Director of the Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office, stated, "We will do our utmost to ensure that veterans who sacrificed and devoted themselves to the nation are respected by the public and that 'veterans affairs for all,' where everyone remembers this in their daily lives, can be realized."
