The prosecution has sought the death penalty for Kim Sungjin, who fatally stabbed a woman in her 60s at a supermarket in downtown Seoul.
On July 15, during a trial at the Criminal Division 13 of the Seoul Northern District Court presided over by Chief Judge Na Sanghun, the prosecution requested that Kim be sentenced to death, the maximum penalty under the law.
Kim is accused of unwrapping a knife displayed at a supermarket in Mia-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, at around 6:20 p.m. on April 22, and fatally stabbing a woman in her 60s.
Kim was also diagnosed as a psychopath in May.
