Second Win of the Season at the High1 Resort Women's Open
Achieving High Trajectory Shots by Adjusting TaylorMade Iron Lofts
Crucial Birdie with a Wedge Shot on the 15th Hole in the Final Round
This was a wise decision by Bang Sinshil.
On July 13, at the High1 Country Club (par 72) in Jeongseon, Gangwon Province, she claimed victory at the KLPGA Tour High1 Resort Women's Open. This marked her second win in three months, following her victory at the Nexen-Saintnine Masters in April. Most notably, it was encouraging to see her break out of a brief slump that had lasted for two months since May.

Bang Sinshil saw the benefits of adjusting her iron lofts by one degree after making swing corrections. Prior to the Lotte Open, which concluded on July 6, she adjusted her iron lofts by one degree. This increased her shot trajectory while reducing her carry distance. Bang Sinshil said, "I made small swing adjustments during the season, and my distance increased. The warmer weather also played a role. At the Lotte Open, I noticed the ball rolled less, which improved my shot control." The High1 Country Club, located at an elevation of over 1,000 meters, made these iron loft adjustments even more effective.
The highlight of the final day came at the 15th hole (par 5). Bang Sinshil made a crucial birdie on this hole to move into a tie for the lead. From 90 yards out, she hit a powerful wedge shot that landed past the pin and spun back toward the hole, resulting in a birdie. In response to Bang Sinshil's strong comeback, Kim Minju, visibly rattled, made an uncharacteristic mistake by three-putting for a bogey on the 16th hole (par 3), missing a birdie opportunity.
Bang Sinshil said, "Before the round, I didn't even think about winning. Even during the match, it was so close that I didn't focus on the win and just concentrated on my own play. Thanks to that, I avoided any major mistakes." She added, "During the two-week break before the next tournament, I plan to build up my physical strength and hone my short game to prepare for the second half of the season."
