Orion announced on July 15 that it has launched two new limited-edition flavors available only during the fresh potato season: "Pocachip Fresh Potato 3MIX Butter Potato Flavor" and "Pocachip Fresh Potato 3MIX Spicy Cheese Potato Flavor."
Pocachip Fresh Potato 3MIX is the first domestic fresh potato chip to feature three different chip shapes in a single bag. The chips are sliced and fried into three distinct shapes using fresh potatoes: a straight cut for a light and crispy texture, a diagonal cut that captures a rich seasoning flavor between the ridges, and a right-angle cut that offers a hearty and full-bodied crunch.
Orion has incorporated nearly 40 years of expertise in fresh potato chip manufacturing, accumulated since the launch of Pocachip in 1988. The company added equipment to its production line that can slice potatoes into three different shapes at once and identified the optimal frying temperature to ensure each shape and thickness is cooked evenly.
Pocachip Fresh Potato 3MIX is available in two varieties: Butter Potato Flavor, with a fragrant buttery taste, and Spicy Cheese Potato Flavor, which combines savory cheddar cheese with a spicy kick. This expands consumer choice, allowing people to select according to their preferences. In addition, the chips deliver the natural taste and seasonal freshness of new potatoes, and are expected to be very popular among consumers seeking "seasonal Pocachip."
Pocachip made from fresh potatoes has become a must-have summer snack, as word of mouth has spread among consumers that "they taste best in season." Demand is especially high for enjoying them as a snack while watching sports like baseball or soccer, or as a beer accompaniment, so Orion has continued to introduce various limited editions targeting the summer snack market. In fact, Pocachip sales in August last year were 17% higher than the annual average.
