A man in his twenties who posted multiple murder and terror threats online?including threats to kill elementary school students and women, to bomb KINTEX, and to set fire to the Constitutional Court?has been brought to trial.
On July 14, the Women and Children Crime Investigation Division of the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Jaenam) announced that the man in his twenties had been indicted and detained on charges including intimidation and obstruction of official duties by fraudulent means.
This man is accused of writing 14 posts threatening murder and terror from October of last year to February of this year, in order to instill fear in an unspecified number of people, including elementary school students, and to attract attention.
As a result of these posts, approximately 800 police officers were dispatched to the scenes, and many citizens experienced fear and anxiety.
The prosecution stated, "We will do our utmost to maintain the indictment and will respond strictly to public intimidation crimes such as online murder threats."
