Woori Bank and Financial Security Institute to Host 5th WooriCON Penetration Testing Competition

On July 14, Woori Bank announced that it will jointly host the 5th WooriCON Penetration Testing Competition with the Financial Security Institute.

The competition will take place from August 18 to August 29, and will be conducted in a "bug bounty" format, in which participants identify and eliminate security vulnerabilities in Woori Bank's internet banking and Woori WON Banking services.

Applications can be submitted from July 14 to July 25. University and graduate students who wish to participate can download the application form from the announcements section of the Woori Bank website, attach their certificate of enrollment, and submit the documents by email.

Woori Bank will comprehensively evaluate the level of security vulnerability discovery and creativity of the participating teams, and will select a total of four teams: one grand prize winner, one first prize winner, one excellence award winner, and one encouragement award winner. A total of 8.5 million won in prize money will be awarded. Recipients will also receive preferential treatment in the document screening process when applying for positions at Woori Bank or the Financial Security Institute.

Jung Jinwan, CEO of Woori Bank, stated, "As cyber threats become increasingly sophisticated, strengthening security capabilities in the financial sector and fostering future information security talent are becoming more important." He added, "We hope this competition will serve as a platform to proactively respond to new types of cyberattacks and to discover professional talent in information security."
