282,000 Eligible for First Round... Applications Open from July 21
Park Seungwon: "Systematic Support to Ensure All Citizens Receive Assistance"
Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province will operate a dedicated call center starting July 14 to promptly respond to inquiries regarding the Minsheng Recovery Consumption Coupon, the first round of which will begin distribution on July 21.
The Minsheng Recovery Consumption Coupon is a government subsidy provided to all citizens to help revive the national economy. The first round of distribution will begin on July 21, and a second additional round, excluding the top 10% income earners, will be open for applications starting September 22.
The city explained that, since the consumption coupon will be distributed to all citizens, it has decided to operate a dedicated call center to minimize inconvenience for residents. The call center will be open on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Citizens can receive detailed information regarding application procedures, support amounts, and other matters related to the consumption coupon.
Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong, stated, "We will do our utmost to ensure that every single citizen receives support through this consumption coupon," and added, "We will make every effort to provide prompt support and systematic responses so that the coupon can help revitalize struggling households and local economies."
Previously, on July 8, the city held a strategic meeting led by Vice Mayor Jeong Sunuk to promote the Minsheng Recovery Consumption Coupon program and established a dedicated task force (TF) team to set up a comprehensive response system for the project.
According to the resident registration standard set by the government as of June 18, the first round of Minsheng Recovery Consumption Coupon recipients in Gwangmyeong City numbers approximately 282,000 people. For the first week of applications, from July 21 to 25, a weekday-based system will be applied according to the last digit of the applicant's birth year. Those whose birth year ends in 1 or 6 can apply on Monday, 2 or 7 on Tuesday, 3 or 8 on Wednesday, 4 or 9 on Thursday, and 5 or 0 on Friday.
The first round of support amounts are as follows: 150,000 won for general citizens, 300,000 won for second-lowest income groups and single-parent families, and 400,000 won for basic livelihood security recipients.
Starting September 22, applications will be accepted for the second round of additional support, which provides 100,000 won per person to all citizens except the top 10% income earners. Both the first and second round subsidies must be used by November 30, and any unused balance will not be refunded and will automatically expire.
Those born on or before December 31, 2066 must apply individually. For minors, the head of household registered in the resident registration must apply; however, if a minor is the head of a household with no adult members, the minor may apply directly.
Online applications can be made via the Gyeonggi Local Currency app or through the websites of each credit or debit card company. If online application is difficult, residents can receive the subsidy as local currency at their local administrative welfare center. Those wishing to receive the subsidy via credit or debit card should visit a bank branch affiliated with their card to apply.
By subscribing to the 'National Secretary Notification Service (Guppi),' citizens can receive advance notifications regarding eligibility, application periods, and other information related to the consumption coupon.
