On July 14, the Seoul Tourism Foundation announced that it would appoint Lee Sutak, former Director of Public Relations at the Korea Tourism Organization, as the new head of the Tourism Industry Headquarters, an open position. The term of office is two years.
According to the foundation, Lee is a tourism expert with comprehensive capabilities spanning strategic planning and on-site execution. He is expected to play a key role in enhancing the competitiveness of Seoul's tourism industry and establishing a sustainable ecosystem.

Lee holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Broadcasting and a master's degree in Business Administration from Korea University. He worked at the Korea Tourism Organization for about 36 years, accumulating extensive experience in various fields including on-site tourism operations, strategic planning, public relations, and management of overseas branches. He is also proficient in English, Japanese, and Chinese.
He has served as Director of Public Relations, Director of Tourism Products, Director of Management Support, and Head of Domestic Tourism Marketing at the Korea Tourism Organization. He also has extensive experience in overseas tourism marketing, including in Hong Kong, Toronto, and London.
The Tourism Industry Headquarters of the Seoul Tourism Foundation is a core department dedicated to fostering the industrial foundation and revitalizing tourist attraction with the goal of qualitative growth in Seoul's tourism sector. It oversees projects aimed at improving convenience for tourists, including close cooperation with the tourism industry, hosting festivals and events, developing tourism content, enhancing tourism infrastructure, and raising service quality. In addition, it is responsible for policy coordination, achievement of major projects, and risk management through collaboration with related organizations such as the central government and the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Lee stated upon his appointment, "Based on the experience I have accumulated across various fields of the tourism industry, I will work to maximize the synergy of public-private cooperation and help Seoul tourism reach a world-class level."
