On July 13, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that from July 7 to August 31, it will conduct activities to prevent illegal acts such as sexual crimes and theft in the areas surrounding four major Han River swimming pools and two Han River water parks, which are popular urban vacation spots.
The police, in cooperation with related organizations and groups such as the Mirae Hangang Headquarters and the Volunteer Crime Prevention Corps, will inspect facilities such as swimming pool changing rooms and restrooms once a week to check for the presence of hidden cameras.
In addition, mobile patrol units will be deployed to strengthen patrols around Han River swimming pools and water parks. Normally, six teams consisting of 45 officers will be deployed, but on Fridays and weekends, when demand is higher, 12 teams totaling 90 officers will be assigned.
Previously, when the Han River swimming pools opened last month, the police inspected restrooms and changing rooms for illegal camera installations and requested improvements to facilities considered vulnerable to illegal filming, such as restrooms with transparent glass windows.
A police official stated, "Through these crime prevention activities, we aim to help citizens enjoy a safe summer at the Han River swimming pools."
