The Companion Animal Industry Design major at Tongmyong University recently operated an experiential booth combining companion animals and design at the international sports event '2025 World Tour Seoul Paddleboard Open,' held on the Han River in Seoul.
Under the slogan 'SUP & Companion Animals & Design,' the booth offered a paddleboard keyring-making experience and also exhibited companion animal apparel that was showcased at the '2025 MEGAZOO' expo fashion show in June. The program focused on hands-on experiences that both participants and visitors could enjoy together, receiving a positive response on-site.
The booth was operated by students Kim Doohyun, Kim Soyeon, Nam Haejung, Bae Jiyeon, Yoo Jihae, Lee Seunghyun, Lee Yeeun, and Lee Yoona. They took the lead in every aspect, from practical design work to exhibition planning, booth management, and guiding visitors through the experiences, demonstrating their practical skills.
Professor Kim Jonggi stated, "This is a new example of proposing a lifestyle that integrates international sports events, design, and companion animal content," and emphasized, "We will continue to expand field education opportunities that foster a global perspective."
The event was held over two days, from July 5 to July 6, and was hosted by the Korean Association of Paddlesurf Professionals (KAPP).
The Companion Animal Industry Design major at Tongmyong University is the only program in Korea that offers integrated education on lifestyle design, DIY furniture, goods, and content design for companion animals and their owners. Through a practice-oriented curriculum, it provides education closely aligned with industry needs.
