First in the Domestic Petrochemical Industry to Participate
Exemption from Submitting MSDS and Verification Documents
Lotte Chemical has become the first company in the domestic petrochemical industry to participate in the "Eco-Label Certified Raw Material Supply Chain," taking the lead in providing practical support for its customers to obtain eco-label certification.
Lotte Chemical is participating in the "Eco-Label Certified Raw Material Supply Chain" led by the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute, and currently operates with 39 products within the plastic material groups such as PE, PP, and PET approved as certified raw materials. On July 11, Lotte Chemical announced that it had signed an agreement with the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute, under the Ministry of Environment, and, after a rigorous pre-verification process, received approval for 39 products within its plastic material groups?such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and PET?as raw materials meeting the eco-label certification standards. These approved raw materials are disclosed and operated within the eco-label certification system on Eco Square, an integrated one-stop service for environmental technology industries.
The eco-label certification requires proof that products do not contain hazardous substances such as prohibited elements or organotin compounds. To meet this requirement, companies must submit Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and undergo complex ingredient reviews and evaluations.
Customers using Lotte Chemical's certified raw materials are exempt from submitting MSDS and raw material composition confirmation documents, significantly reducing administrative burdens. This streamlining of the verification process allows them to obtain eco-label certification more quickly.
Currently, a total of five companies participate in the eco-label certified raw material supply chain, with Lotte Chemical being the first among domestic petrochemical companies. Going forward, Lotte Chemical plans to consider registering additional certified raw materials upon customer request.
A Lotte Chemical representative stated, "Our participation in the certified raw material supply chain is an important turning point, as it goes beyond simply supplying raw materials and enables us to build an eco-friendly ecosystem together with our customers. We will continue to expand the certification of suitable raw materials to enhance both eco-friendliness and product competitiveness, accelerating our customers' transition to eco-friendly products and realizing mutual cooperation."
