An inter-ministerial task force will be launched to promote the establishment of RE100 (100% renewable energy) industrial complexes, a key presidential campaign pledge of President Lee Jaemyung.
On July 10, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced plans to form a joint 'RE100 Industrial Complex Promotion Task Force (TF)' with relevant agencies. The task force will be headed by First Vice Minister Moon Sinhak of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and will include director-level officials from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy stated that the RE100 Industrial Complex Promotion TF will identify all possible policy measures in areas such as corporate support, industrial complex infrastructure, and renewable energy infrastructure, and will develop a plan for the establishment of RE100 industrial complexes by the end of the year. In addition, the government will promote the enactment of a special law to attract companies to RE100 industrial complexes.
Moon Sinhak, First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, said, "RE100 industrial complexes are a crucial task that will connect the competitiveness of our export companies with the utilization of regional renewable energy resources, ultimately leading to the revitalization of local economies. We will mobilize the full capabilities of the government to ensure steady progress."
