Lower Center of Gravity Achieves Stable Driving Capability
Harrer: "A New Benchmark in Automotive Engineering"
Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the Ioniq 6 N, the second high-performance electric vehicle from its N brand, for the first time in the world. With the Ioniq 6 N, Hyundai aims to redefine the "joy of driving" with a sedan-based high-performance EV and to shift the paradigm of high-performance electric vehicles.
On July 10 (local time), Hyundai's high-performance N brand introduced the Ioniq 6 N to the world at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the largest automotive festival in the United Kingdom. On this day, the Ioniq 6 N participated in the festival's iconic main event, the Hillclimb course, making a powerful impression.
The Ioniq 6 N is a model that pushes driving performance to the extreme by combining vehicle data gathered from motorsports and "Rolling Lab" (a moving laboratory) with Hyundai's advanced electrification technologies. It features a high-performance all-wheel drive system and an 84.0 kWh high-output battery. The combined output of the front and rear motors reaches a maximum of 478 kW (650 PS) and a peak torque of 770 Nm (78.5 kgf·m) when using the boost function. Next-generation suspension geometry has been applied to achieve agile and stable cornering, and the model is characterized by its outstanding high-limit driving capabilities, delivering high-performance driving sensations suitable for both everyday use and track conditions.
Satisfying Both Track and Daily Driving... Achieving Extreme Performance
The Ioniq 6 N embodies Hyundai N’s commitment to providing an exhilarating driving experience not only on the track but also in everyday life.
Hyundai developed the Ioniq 6 N by combining expertise gained from motorsports with innovative electrification technologies developed and validated in its Rolling Lab. The Ioniq 6 N can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.
Hyundai equipped the Ioniq 6 N with the "N Battery" function, which optimally controls battery temperature and output according to driving purpose. Based on a sedan platform, the Ioniq 6 N achieves a better drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.27 and a lower center of gravity than the Ioniq 5 N, resulting in stable handling performance. Additionally, a large rear wing spoiler enhances high-speed stability, and the body is aerodynamically designed to ensure optimal airflow.
The wide fender design gives the car a low stance befitting a high-performance sedan, while the new exterior color "Performance Blue Pearl" creates a dynamic image that changes three-dimensionally depending on the angle of light.
Manfred Harrer, Executive Vice President and Head of Vehicle Development at Hyundai Motor Company, stated, "The Ioniq 6 N sets a new benchmark in automotive engineering by combining powerful performance, precise battery control, outstanding aerodynamic efficiency, and advanced suspension systems, achieving a balance of high-speed driving, stability, and convenience."
Exhilarating Driving Fun with High-Performance Specialized Features
To provide drivers with a thrilling and enjoyable driving experience, Hyundai has equipped the Ioniq 6 N with a range of next-generation high-performance electrification features.
The Ioniq 6 N is equipped with "N e-Shift," a virtual shifting system with finely tuned virtual gear ratios. The "N Ambient Shift Light" function, which uses interior indirect lighting to indicate the optimal shift timing, also creates an immersive driving environment.
The Ioniq 6 N features "N Active Sound Plus," a virtual background sound system. New sound effects such as "Lightspeed" and the N Green Boost activation sound provide a variety of new high-performance audio experiences. The "N Drift Optimizer" allows individual settings for regenerative braking force, maximum drift angle, and tire limit rotational speed during drift driving. The boost function, "N Green Boost," maximizes motor output and responsiveness for up to 10 seconds at the press of a button.
"N Torque Distribution" allows the driver to adjust the front/rear power distribution ratio in up to 11 steps to suit their driving preferences. In N Pedal mode, when the accelerator pedal is released during cornering, the system appropriately adjusts the front/rear power distribution and uses regenerative braking for rapid load transfer, enabling agile corner entry.
The "N Track Manager," introduced for the first time in the Ioniq 6 N, allows drivers to create custom track maps in addition to the default track maps provided in the infotainment system. It also provides information such as best lap times, average battery consumption, and the distance from the current location to the track.
Hyundai has also equipped the Ioniq 6 N with features designed for video recording during track driving. The "N Race Cam," introduced for the first time by Hyundai, is a track-specific recording mode. It overlays driving information such as steering wheel angle, vehicle speed, brake and accelerator pedal position, G-force, track map, and lap time onto footage recorded by the built-in front camera. The upper interior of the Ioniq 6 N features a mounting structure for an action camera, allowing for more convenient camera installation.
