On July 9, Icheon City announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with agricultural corporation JackQMonty Co., Ltd. for a 30 billion won private investment to establish an internationally certified equestrian competition venue.
Under this agreement, JackQMonty will build not only the internationally certified equestrian competition venue in the Maegok-ri area of Hobeop-myeon, but also a birch forest trail, accommodation facilities, and convenience facilities. The city plans to actively provide administrative support for the project.
The project is scheduled to break ground in October next year, with the goal of completion in 2027. The company plans to develop the site into a stay-type tourism complex, where national equestrian competitions can be held and visitors can experience horseback riding.
Kyunghee Kim, Mayor of Icheon, stated, "This agreement provides an opportunity to diversify the infrastructure for stay-type tourism and recreation," adding, "With this project, Icheon will be reborn as a complex equine industry tourism city."
