Geunje Cho, Governor of Haman County in South Gyeongsang Province, has received the 'Freedom Award' presented by the World League for Freedom and Democracy (WLFD).
On July 10, Kim Yongsoo, President of the Gyeongnam Branch of the Korea Freedom Federation, visited Haman County Office and presented the Freedom Award to Governor Cho in recognition of his dedication to safeguarding the values of liberal democracy and his contributions to enhancing the happiness and welfare of citizens.

The Freedom Award is an internationally prestigious honor bestowed by the World League for Freedom and Democracy (WLFD) on individuals who have contributed to the defense of liberal democracy and to the peace and prosperity of humanity. This award recognizes Governor Cho's highly regarded efforts in government innovation, balanced regional development, and the improvement of residents' welfare during his tenure as the eighth popularly elected governor of Haman County.
Since taking office, Governor Cho has been credited with leading achievements in various fields, including strengthening local autonomy and decentralization, as well as expanding international exchange and cooperation, thereby taking the lead in realizing the values of liberal democracy.

Governor Cho stated, "Receiving the Freedom Award from the World League for Freedom and Democracy is a meaningful achievement made possible by the collective efforts of all Haman residents," and added, "I will continue to do my utmost to enhance the quality of life for our citizens and to ensure the sustainable development of Haman, based on the values of liberal democracy."
The World League for Freedom and Democracy was founded in 1967 and is headquartered in Taiwan. It is an international non-governmental organization that upholds freedom and democracy as its core values. Currently, 139 countries are members, including 17 executive committee countries such as South Korea, the United States, and Germany, and the organization continues its efforts to defend and advance liberal democracy.
