As generative artificial intelligence (AI) rapidly permeates everyday life, the question of whether "AI provides trustworthy information" has emerged as a new challenge. The domestic technology company Sky Worldwide seeks answers to this issue in data infrastructure.
Sky Worldwide has been developing technologies that quickly organize and connect various types of data, enabling AI to deliver reliable answers. Recently, leveraging technology that analyzes the structure and context of information, the company has even created a solution to reduce "AI hallucinations" (the generation of false information).
On July 2, during an interview with Asia Economy at the company's office in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Jaehyuk Shin, CEO of Sky Worldwide, stated, "We are now in an era where it is more important to consider what data AI is referencing and how it makes judgments, rather than how intelligent the AI is," adding, "Our role is to design and optimize that data structure."
Sky Worldwide is a domestic technology company that has grown based on graph database (DB) technology. In 2024, the company changed its name from "Bitnine" to "Sky Worldwide (SKAI Worldwide)" and began a full-scale expansion into the AI solutions market. The company name reflects its ambition to become a "global data infrastructure company."
Sky Worldwide's greatest strength lies in its proprietary technology that gathers and rapidly organizes data scattered in different formats, while also uncovering hidden connections among pieces of information. By combining a new type of connection analysis technology with conventional data processing structures, the company has developed the world's first unified data management system (hybrid DB). Based on this, the company has created "Ontovia," a solution that helps AI generate more accurate and evidence-based answers. Ontovia is scheduled for official release later this month.
Ontovia is a "data intelligence solution" that organizes and connects the data used by AI with greater precision. In particular, it applies graph RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) technology, which helps AI generate responses based on information with clear sources. Graph RAG analyzes relationships among data before the AI retrieves and responds, leading to more accurate and context-aware answers. This is effective in reducing "hallucinations," which are considered one of the most significant current issues in AI.

Ontovia also features agent capabilities that can be immediately applied to various document software, such as Excel, Word, Hangul, and PDF files, enhancing its practicality. It automatically extracts and organizes necessary information from documents and optimizes it so that AI can utilize it immediately.
Another strength of Sky Worldwide is that it is built on "100% domestic technology." The company develops all of its technologies independently, without relying on foreign platforms or systems. This approach aligns with the government's recently promoted "sovereign AI" strategy. CEO Shin said, "Currently in Korea, there is active investment in hardware and algorithms, such as expanding AI computing infrastructure and developing foundation models, but the structuring and intelligence of the data that serves as AI's 'input values' have not yet received sufficient attention. As national-level AI models become more advanced, the importance of data optimization platforms for trustworthy responses will only grow, and addressing this is precisely our role."
