The Chungnam Office of Education held the 'Chungnam Village Education Community First Half Operation Evaluation Meeting' over two days. The evaluation meeting, which began on the 9th in the areas of Goesan and Jeungpyeong in Chungbuk, was attended by staff in charge from 14 local education support offices within the province, as well as officials from the Office of Education. The meeting was convened to review the progress of the first half-year projects and to jointly explore the direction for the second half, marking the fourth year of the second phase of the Happy Education District initiative (2022?2027).
On this day, the Office of Education evaluated the continuous implementation of the village education community policy by schools and villages under the vision of 'Learning and Growth for All.' They also shared the achievements of the first half-year projects jointly carried out by local communities, schools, and villages. In addition, there were in-depth discussions on enhancing the efficiency and practical cooperation in policy implementation for the second half of the year, as well as sessions on case study learning, policy consultations, and on-site visits.
For the practical case on-site visit, participants visited the Solmaengi Village School Jarimteo at Songmyeon Elementary School in Goesan-gun, Chungbuk, to observe an after-school care program jointly operated by the school and the village. According to officials, this Jarimteo serves as a collaborative model where the school's 'Neulbom' space is shared and managed in partnership with the village, and it is recognized as a leading example of the organic integration between public education and the local community.
During the policy consultation session, there was an in-depth discussion on effective ways to integrate village resources into the curriculum, focusing on cases from the Chungbuk-style village education curriculum. Various ideas were also shared on how community-centered learning can connect children's lives with their education.
Furthermore, the 14 city and county education support offices presented the progress of their first half-year projects and discussed the achievements and challenges unique to each region. Through this process, they laid the groundwork for enhancing the consistency of policy implementation and determining the direction for operations in the second half of the year.
Yoon Pyojung, Director of Policy Planning at the Chungnam Office of Education, stated, "The village education community is not just about running programs; it is about establishing a community-based foundation in which schools and villages share responsibility for children's lives." He added, "I hope this has been an opportunity to reflect on each region's practices and to realign the policy direction for village education."
