Approval Ratings for Personnel Appointments and Press Conference Exceed 60%
People Power Party Support Drops to 19%, Down 1 Percentage Point
58% Support Separation of Prosecutorial Investigation and Indictment Powers
President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating for his administration has increased. Public opinion has also been favorable regarding his personnel appointments and the press conference marking his 30th day in office. Meanwhile, support for the People Power Party, now the opposition, continued to decline, dropping into the 10% range.
According to the National Barometer Survey (NBS) conducted by Embrain Public, KSTAT Research, Korea Research, and Hankook Research (a mobile phone interview survey of 1,003 men and women aged 18 and older nationwide from July 7 to 9, with a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level and a response rate of 19.9%), President Lee's approval rating rose by 3 percentage points compared to two weeks ago (the survey is conducted biweekly), reaching 65%. The negative evaluation also increased by 2 percentage points to 23%. Compared to immediately after his inauguration, President Lee's approval rating has risen by 12 percentage points.

Regarding the direction of national governance, 64% of respondents said the country is "heading in the right direction" (combining "very" and "somewhat" positive responses). Only 26% said it is "heading in the wrong direction" (combining "very" and "somewhat" negative responses). As for the president's personnel appointments, 60% gave a positive evaluation ("very" and "somewhat" positive), while 29% gave a negative evaluation ("very" and "somewhat" negative). Regarding the press conference marking the president's 30th day in office, 65% responded positively, while 18% responded negatively.
In terms of party support, the Democratic Party of Korea maintained a 45% approval rating, the same as two weeks ago, while support for the People Power Party fell by 1 percentage point to 19%.
Regarding the investigation and possible detention of former President Yoon Suk Yeol, 71% of respondents were in favor, while 23% were opposed. On the government's prosecutorial reform policy, which seeks to separate investigation and indictment functions to disperse prosecutorial power, 58% expressed support, while 29% were opposed.
For real estate policy, 53% gave a positive evaluation ("very" and "somewhat" positive), while 29% gave a negative evaluation ("very" and "somewhat" negative). Regarding real estate market stabilization measures such as limiting the maximum mortgage loan in the Seoul metropolitan area to 600 million won, 55% said these measures would help stabilize the market, while 33% said they would be an inappropriate burden on genuine homebuyers.
