The Korea Post announced on July 10 that it has introduced a 'Simple Mode' to its mobile banking app, aiming to improve financial service accessibility for digitally vulnerable groups, including the elderly.

"Easy for Seniors to Use": Korea Post Mobile Banking Introduces 'Simple Mode'

The Simple Mode is designed to enhance text readability and provide an intuitive interface, in line with the 'Elderly-Friendly Mobile Financial App Guidelines' established by the Financial Services Commission.

Additionally, the user interface focuses on basic functions, making it easier for elderly users and other IT-vulnerable groups who are not familiar with digital devices to access financial services.

Users can activate Simple Mode by pressing the 'Simple Home' button at the top left corner of the Korea Post mobile banking app. Once activated, the mode replaces the existing complex menus with a consistent design featuring core functions such as transaction history and transfers, which are used most frequently.

In particular, the transfer screen is organized step by step to prevent incorrect inputs, and the accident reporting menu is placed prominently on the home screen, making it easier to access and respond to financial incidents.

Korea Post expects that the introduction of Simple Mode will enable customers who are not familiar with digital environments to use mobile financial services more easily.

Cho Haekeun, Head of Korea Post, stated, "Simple Mode was introduced in response to the growing social interest and demand for services tailored to digitally marginalized groups, such as the elderly," adding, "Korea Post will continue to strive to provide user-centered services so that everyone can conveniently access financial services."
