To provide more precise and systematic screenings, Yeongdeungpo-gu has newly added a gender-specific "cancer marker test." The cancer marker test is a supplementary diagnostic test designed for the early detection of cancer (tumors).

Since its launch in February, the "Single-Person Household Youth Health Checkup" has received a strong response, with more than 100 young people participating as of this month. The original checkup items included a total of 45 tests: basic examinations such as blood pressure and body composition, chest X-ray, 29 types of blood tests, 10 types of urine tests, and a mental health screening. Now, a prostate cancer marker test will be added for men, and an ovarian cancer marker test will be added for women.

The program is open to single-person household youths aged 19 to 39 who are registered residents of Yeongdeungpo-gu. No advance reservation is required. Participants simply need to bring their ID and a resident registration certificate, fast for at least 10 hours, and visit the health checkup center on the second floor of the public health center. For more details, visit the "Medical Services and Inquiries - Health Checkup" section on the district public health center's website.

This initiative is linked to the "Preconception Health Management Support Project," which aims to detect health risk factors that could affect pregnancy and childbirth at an early stage and to promote preventive health management. For young men and women aged 20 to 49, women can receive up to 130,000 KRW and men up to 50,000 KRW in fertility testing support.

Choi Hokwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, "I hope this will be an opportunity for young people to check their own health status and recognize the importance of early prevention," adding, "We will continue to expand customized health services that can provide practical help to young people."
