Vice Governor Jang Jaehyuk Requests Cooperation for Securing National Funding
and Discusses Key County Projects
Hapcheon County, Gyeongnam, announced on July 10 that it held a 'Policy Meeting with the Aide Staff of National Assemblyman Shin Sungbeom' at a restaurant near the National Assembly in Seoul, where it explained key county government projects and requested cooperation to secure national funding.
This meeting was organized at the request of Hapcheon County to strengthen cooperation with the aide staff of National Assemblyman Shin Sungbeom. A total of 18 people attended, including nine aides to Assemblyman Shin Sungbeom, Vice Governor Jang Jaehyuk, and heads of departments, to discuss ways to cooperate for the development of Hapcheon County.
Hapcheon County requested active budget support and cooperation on a total of 32 large-scale projects currently being promoted or planned by the county, as well as projects requiring national funding and special grants. These included the Hapcheon Meteorite Impact Crater Global Geopark Project, the expansion of Local Road No. 1026 (Hajo Port to Wonsong), and the Barrier-Free Tourism Connectivity Enhancement Project.
Yoo Seongkyung, Director of Planning and Budget, explained during the project briefing that "to overcome the crisis of regional extinction, our county is making active efforts especially in tourism, sports infrastructure, and clean energy projects." She emphasized that "in order for Hapcheon County to overcome the crisis of local extinction and stay ahead of other local governments, cooperation from all sectors is essential," highlighting the importance of strengthening communication with the office of the National Assemblyman. The county also continued to make proposals for projects that are in urgent need of national funding.
The main projects proposed by the county included the construction of a memorial facility for Korean atomic bomb victims, the Andong Keungol Natural Disaster Risk Improvement Project, the installation of a municipal solid waste incineration facility in Hapcheon, the improvement of Hapcheon County's public livestock manure treatment facility, the installation of public sewage treatment facilities, and the application for the Eastern Region Hub City (Chogye-myeon Urban Regeneration Project), among others.
Vice Governor Jang Jaehyuk stated, "Despite the government's policy of fiscal soundness and spending restructuring making it difficult to secure national funding and special grants, the efforts of Assemblyman Shin Sungbeom and his aides enabled us to achieve significant results in 2024 and 2025." He added, "In 2026, I ask for your active support and cooperation to secure even more national funding and special grants than this year, so that Hapcheon County can continue to develop."
Meanwhile, Hapcheon County plans to maintain continuous cooperation with the National Assembly, seek solutions to key county government issues, and continue its efforts to secure national funding and special grants for 2026.
