Listening to Voices from the Field:
Seeking New Breakthroughs for the Local Rural Economy

Jin Byungyoung, Governor of Hamyang County in South Gyeongsang Province, directly visited small-scale poultry farms within the county to inspect the progress of ongoing projects and listen to feedback from the field.

According to Hamyang County on July 10, this visit was organized to actively respond to the crisis of population decline and to review the on-site operations of small-scale poultry farming projects, which are being promoted as a new breakthrough for the local rural economy.

This project, in particular, is drawing attention as a self-sustaining livestock model aimed at encouraging urban-to-rural migration and expanding the region's income base. The county plans to continue providing administrative and technical support to ensure that the project becomes established as a representative low-cost, high-efficiency start-up model.

Furthermore, Hamyang County expects that the small-scale poultry farming project will go beyond simple livestock raising and develop into a value-added model that combines local identity by developing specialized chicken-based dishes linked to the local food industry and tourism resources.

Governor Jin stated, "The crisis of rural extinction is not merely a matter of population decline, but a critical issue directly connected to the survival of local communities. Although these agricultural models may be small, I will do my utmost to ensure that practical and feasible models can take root stably in the region by promoting policies and providing substantial support that reflect the voices from the field."

Meanwhile, Hamyang County plans to continue responding proactively to the crisis of population decline by pursuing both income-based projects that residents can directly benefit from and the development of cultural and tourism resources.
