Foreign Investors Net Buy 3 Trillion Won in Domestic Stocks in June for Second Consecutive Month

Foreign investors continued to be net buyers of domestic stocks in June, following net purchases in May. They also maintained net investments in bonds for the fifth consecutive month.

According to the "Trends in Foreign Securities Investment in June 2025" released by the Financial Supervisory Service on July 10, foreign investors were net buyers of domestic stocks worth 3.076 trillion won last month, based on settlement data. By market, they were net buyers of 3.122 trillion won in KOSPI, while they were net sellers of 46 billion won in KOSDAQ.


By region, investors from the Americas led with net purchases of 3.5 trillion won. European investors followed with net purchases of 1.4 trillion won. In contrast, investors from Asia were net sellers of 1.2 trillion won.


By country, the United States led with net purchases of 3.4 trillion won. Ireland followed with net purchases of 1.7 trillion won. In contrast, Norway and Singapore were net sellers of 1.2 trillion won and 1.1 trillion won, respectively.


The United States held the largest amount of domestic stocks, totaling 347.9 trillion won, accounting for 40.3% of all foreign holdings. Europe followed with 268.4 trillion won (31.1%), Asia with 123.8 trillion won (14.3%), and the Middle East with 12.9 trillion won (1.5%).


Last month, foreign investors were net buyers of listed bonds worth 17.715 trillion won and received 14.091 trillion won in bond redemptions at maturity, resulting in a net investment of 3.624 trillion won.


By region, Asia led with net investments of 4.5 trillion won, while Europe recorded net investments of 900 billion won. In contrast, the Middle East and the Americas saw net withdrawals of 200 billion won and 100 billion won, respectively. By type, there were net investments of 1.2 trillion won in government bonds and 600 billion won in monetary stabilization bonds.


By maturity, there were net investments of 7.2 trillion won in bonds with remaining maturities of one year or more but less than five years, and 3.3 trillion won in bonds with maturities of five years or more. In contrast, there was a net withdrawal of 6.9 trillion won in bonds with maturities of less than one year.

As of the end of last month, foreign investors held 74.1 trillion won (24.3%) in bonds with remaining maturities of less than one year, 100.5 trillion won (33.0%) in bonds with maturities of one year or more but less than five years, and 129.9 trillion won (42.7%) in bonds with maturities of five years or more.
