Featuring a Book Cafe, Yoga Studio, and Media Lounge
The 'Gangnam Healing Center (Sinsa)', established by Gangnam-gu in Sinsa-dong as a wellness hub, will open this month. This is the third healing center following COEX in 2020 and Gaepo-dong in 2021, and it serves as a key facility for building a regionally balanced healing welfare network in Gangnam-gu.
Gangnam Healing Center (13 Nonhyeon-ro 155-gil) has drawn attention as the first of its kind among basic local governments nationwide, providing a healing space in the city where people can experience recovery and rejuvenation.
Going beyond general resident welfare support, the center focuses on stress relief and psychological recovery, operating differentiated programs centered on improving four major lifestyle habits: exercise, mind, relationships, and food. This approach has received strong support from local residents, with about 100,000 people visiting the center annually, demonstrating its tangible effectiveness.
To provide balanced services across different regions, the district established a new center in Sinsa. The Sinsa Center held an opening ceremony on the 9th, and final preparations for its official opening are now in the final stages. Pilot lectures and special programs will be offered through August, and full-scale regular programs will begin in September.
The Sinsa Center is a five-story building above ground with four basement levels (total floor area of 3,881 square meters). The first floor features a naturally lit lobby and a children's book playground, while the second-floor book cafe offers around 3,000 books and comfortable seating, allowing anyone to read and relax freely.
The third-floor academy room hosts classes for emotional healing and self-development, such as writing, aromatherapy, and calligraphy. The fourth-floor group healing room, with its 6.6-meter-high ceiling, offers yoga, pilates, meditation, and singing bowl programs.
The fifth-floor media lounge is designed around a curved LED media wall, providing an immersive space for audiovisual healing content and enhancing visual stability and emotional healing effects. All floors are designed with interiors and natural elements that promote psychological comfort. The underground parking lot features an artificial intelligence (AI)-based parking guidance system and LED entry and exit signal systems.
Cho Sungmyung, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, "The Gangnam Healing Center is more than just a place to rest; it is a complex urban healing space where residents can recover and connect amid the fatigue of daily life. We will continue to lead healing welfare that enhances quality of life and pursue diverse policies that care for both the bodies and minds of our residents."
