Promoting the excellence of local fermented foods
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province is recruiting companies to participate in the "23rd Jeonju International Fermented Food Expo 2025."
According to the city on July 9, this recruitment aims to promote the excellence of local fermented foods nationwide, and to facilitate practical market expansion and increased income for local farmers.
This initiative is being pursued in connection with the 8th popularly elected administration's pledge to foster the "Jeongeup-style family business fermented industry." The city plans to further strengthen the competitiveness of local fermented foods through participation in the expo.
The expo will be held from October 30 to November 3 at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium and its surrounding area. The event will feature 350 companies from 20 countries, with a total of 450 booths in operation. On-site, there will be various promotional opportunities, including customized marketing support for companies, domestic and international publicity programs, and B2B and B2C business meetings.
The city has secured seven of these booths, and will provide modular booths for local fermented food businesses to participate. Jeongeup City will cover the full booth rental fee (2.5 million won per booth).
This project has been steadily carried out every year, and local companies have shown clear results. At the 21st expo, "Hanguk Suldoga" received the Governor's Award for takju, and at the 22nd expo, "(Yu) Gwiri Gwiin" was awarded for distilled soju, being selected as outstanding products for two consecutive years.
Eligible applicants are businesses located in Jeongeup that produce or manufacture fermented foods or related products. The city will select participating companies based on criteria such as hygiene status, product packaging, and the quality of promotional materials.
Companies wishing to participate should visit the Agricultural Support Division at City Hall and submit their application by July 16. The application form can be found and obtained on the city hall website or at town, township, and neighborhood administrative welfare centers.
A city official stated, "Participating in the expo is a valuable opportunity to promote local fermented foods externally, and is also an important process in realizing the city's policy direction of fostering the fermentation industry. We will spare no administrative support and will continue to work together so that participating companies can achieve tangible results."
