People Power Party Establishes Seven Criteria for Personnel Verification: "Will Not Tolerate Lee Administration's Personnel Disasters"

Yoo Sangbeom, the deputy floor leader of the People Power Party and head of the "National Verification Team for Personnel Disasters of the Lee Jae Myung Administration," stated on the 8th, "Starting today, we are officially establishing the People Power Party's seven criteria for personnel verification, and we will thoroughly scrutinize the qualifications of all public office candidates from the perspective of the public."

Speaking with reporters at the main building of the National Assembly that afternoon, Deputy Floor Leader Yoo said, "Integrity and accountability in the public sector begin with personnel appointments," adding, "However, the personnel proposals put forward by the Lee Jae Myung administration are far removed from common sense as understood by the public."

He went on to say, "There are so many allegations being raised?conflicts of interest, stock trading, violations of the Farmland Act, appropriating students' theses, evasion of gift taxes, split donations, real estate speculation, and more?that some are calling it a 'department store of corruption.' He emphasized, "In the face of public lament that National Assembly confirmation hearings have become occasions for reading out criminal records rather than verifying qualifications, the People Power Party will no longer stand by and allow such personnel disasters to continue."

The seven criteria for personnel verification are: suspicions of tax evasion; history of real estate speculation; evasion or circumvention of military service; records of abuse of power or receiving undue privileges; involvement in admissions or employment-related corruption; academic misconduct such as thesis plagiarism; and the possibility of revolving door practices or conflicts of interest.

Regarding the background for establishing these criteria, he said, "We included six factors identified by Gallup as reasons the public deems someone unfit for public office," and added, "These are standards set by the people."

Deputy Floor Leader Yoo stated, "Any candidate who fails to meet even one of these seven public standards, regardless of who they are, will be considered unqualified for public office," and added, "Verification is not a political dispute. It is the minimum standard for appointing individuals who will not bring shame before the public."

He further added, "We will no longer tolerate sham confirmation hearings that simply deceive the public."
