Yeosu City in South Jeolla Province, led by Mayor Chung Kimyung, has established a 'Big Data Portal' that integrates data from all aspects of municipal administration to connect citizens and the government. The city announced on July 8 that it held a 'Big Data Portal Completion Report Meeting' on July 4 in the city hall conference room, attended by about 20 relevant officials, to share the project's achievements and future operational plans.

This project was carried out over approximately seven months, starting in October last year, to implement data-driven scientific administration and to help citizens easily access municipal information.

The city linked data from 22 systems, including the Public Data Portal and the National Statistics Portal, and collected and processed more than 300 types of data items to establish an integrated management system. Through this effort, a foundation was created to manage and utilize various data in one place.

The city plans to provide official services to citizens after a system stabilization period and aims to realize smart administration through ongoing data discovery and system advancement.

A city official stated, "With the establishment of this Big Data Portal, citizens can now easily check a wide range of current status and policy information about our city," adding, "The city will enhance the quality of administrative services through data-driven policies and ensure that more citizens can use the portal through continuous improvements and promotional efforts."

Meanwhile, Yeosu City also plans to strengthen maintenance and promotional activities in the future to actively support the Big Data Portal as a communication channel with citizens.
