Hyeongsan River Outdoor Water Playground and Poeun Children’s Water Playground to Open in Full Operation from July 12
Gigye-myeon Agricultural Ironware Culture Theme Park and Yangdeok Hanmaeum Multipurpose Park Water Playgrounds to Open on July 15
Following the opening of the Chimchon Neighborhood Park Water Playground, which has been operating since July 1, Pohang City will sequentially open five additional outdoor water playgrounds in the city center to provide citizens with summer recreation options.
The Hyeongsan River Outdoor Water Playground, which will open on July 12, will operate until August 27. The number of visitors is limited to 700 per session in both the morning and afternoon, and entry is managed through an online reservation system.
Reservations can be made on the Pohang City Facilities Management Corporation website starting five days before the desired date of use. The playground is closed every Monday. Admission fees are 5,000 won for adults and teenagers, and 3,000 won for children. Infants under one year of age can enter free of charge.
The Poeun Children’s Water Playground, located within the Ocheon Sports and Culture Town, will be open from July 12 to August 28. Only children aged 12 and under are allowed entry, and children aged 5 and under must be accompanied by a guardian.
The facility is closed every Monday and Thursday and operates in three sessions per day. Groups can make reservations in advance, while individuals are admitted on a first-come, first-served basis at the site. Admission is free.
The Children’s Water Playground in the Agricultural Ironware Culture Theme Park in Gigye-myeon will operate from July 15 to August 31, divided into two sessions per day (morning and afternoon), with a maximum of 100 people per session. Entry is managed through an advance reservation system.
The playground is closed every Monday and Thursday. Preschool children must be accompanied by a guardian. Detailed reservation instructions and usage guidelines can be found on the Pohang City Hall website.
The Doeumsan Forest Culture Training Center Water Playground will also be open free of charge from July 15 to August 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The facility features a water bucket, comprehensive water play equipment, shaded areas, and rest zones. It is closed every Monday and Thursday.
The Yangdeok-dong Hanmaeum Multipurpose Park Water Playground will operate during the same period. This location is equipped with a water play combination playground, general play facilities, benches, and shower rooms. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of 150 people per session in both the morning and afternoon. The playground is closed every Monday and Thursday for cleaning and facility inspections.
A Pohang City official stated, "With the early onset of heat, we will do our best to manage water quality and conduct safety inspections so that citizens can enjoy a safe and cool summer in the city." The official added, "We will assign safety managers who have completed safety training to all water playgrounds to enhance operational safety."
