Muju County in North Jeolla Province will be accepting applications for preliminary candidates for the 2026 national government-funded project in the protected horticulture sector at the Administrative Welfare Center's Industry Team until July 25.
According to the county on July 8, eligible applicants include those with at least three years of experience in cultivation or greenhouse operation (at least one year of experience in the crop to be applied for), and those who have enrolled in agricultural disaster insurance for the cultivation facilities targeted by the project.
Through the "Agricultural Energy Efficiency Project" aimed at establishing renewable energy facilities, applicants can receive support for geothermal heating and cooling systems, waste heat reuse facilities, air heat heating and cooling systems, and wood pellet heaters.
Through the "Smart Farm ICT Convergence and Expansion Project," support is provided for ICT convergence facility equipment and information systems (such as sensors, imaging, and control equipment) for facility distribution. For the modernization of protected horticulture, support is available for nutrient solution recycling systems, ventilators, circulation fans, and supplementary lighting, among others.
For energy-saving facilities, support is provided for multi-layer thermal curtains, automatic thermal covers, circulating water curtain cultivation systems, heat recovery ventilation devices, and waste heat recovery systems.
Lee Eunchang, Head of the Agricultural Policy Division at the Muju County Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "The national government-funded project for protected horticulture supports the introduction of smart farm technology and the modernization of facilities, which enhances the productivity and quality of crops, improves energy savings, and strengthens disaster response capabilities, thereby boosting agricultural competitiveness."
He added, "The county will do its utmost to promote the project so that protected horticulture farms producing strawberries, tomatoes, watermelons, and other crops can reduce management burdens and enhance competitiveness throughout the entire process of production, quality, and distribution of agricultural products, achieving sustainable development."
