Chonnam National University announced on July 7 that 14 students from the Yeosu campus, led by Professors Yoon Minseok and Na Inseop from the Department of Cultural Contents, visited Meijo University in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, to participate in an international exchange program aimed at fostering global talent in K-culture.

This program was implemented as part of this year's Jeonnam-do RISE project, "G3 Global Jeonnam K-Culture Talent Development." From July 1 to 4, Chonnam National University students participated in a joint international exchange event and cultural experience program with Meijo University over four days and three nights.

Meijo University, founded in 1926, is the largest comprehensive private university in central Japan. It has nine faculties, eleven graduate schools, and four campuses, with a student population of approximately 15,000. It is especially renowned for having produced three Nobel Prize laureates.

The exchange program began with a welcome reception hosted by Professor Inaba Chiharu and Associate Professor Kawashima Yusuke from the Faculty of Urban Informatics at Meijo University. Meijo University students introduced Nagoya Castle, local industries, and their campus, while Chonnam National University students introduced the 2025 World Island Expo, tourist attractions in Yeosu, and their university, enhancing mutual cultural understanding.

Participants also enjoyed a social activity making takoyaki together, and, guided by Meijo University students, Chonnam National University students independently used the local subway to return to their accommodations, continuing their cultural exchange in an autonomous manner.

On July 3, students from both universities visited Inuyama Castle in Inuyama City near Nagoya and the Toyota Museum in Nagakute City, experiencing the region's history and industry together.

Professor Yoon Minseok said, "I hope these exchange experiences during student years will become a source of nourishment for life and be remembered for a long time," adding, "Since the program will continue next year, I hope more students will participate and make their time at Chonnam National University even more meaningful."
