Applications accepted until the 25th
Up to 500 million won per site
Damyang County in South Jeolla Province announced on July 7 that it will be accepting applications for the "2026 Resident Group Participatory Forest Creation Project" until July 25.
The Resident Group Participatory Forest Creation Project is part of the "Jeonnam in the Forest" initiative by South Jeolla Province. It aims to restore local communities and improve living environments by creating neighborhood forests that residents themselves plan and cultivate.
Eligible applicants include resident groups of five or more people and non-profit organizations that have secured public-use land, such as national or public property, or village-owned land. Privately owned land may also be eligible if permission for use can be secured for at least five years.
The project types include rest area forests, scenic forests, income-generating forests, and other specialized forests. Projects to improve or supplement existing participatory forests are also eligible. Each project site may receive up to 500 million won in funding, which can be used not only for forest creation but also for operating resident participation programs and installing convenience facilities.
The county will accept applications through township and town offices until July 25, conduct its own review, and then recommend candidates to South Jeolla Province. Afterward, on-site evaluations by the province will take place from late July to mid-August, and the final project sites will be selected following the evaluation results at the end of August.
A county official said, "We look forward to diverse and creative participation that suits the community, such as village forests and alleyway forests, and we hope that many interested residents and organizations will apply."
