Gwangjin District Ranks First Among 25 Seoul Districts in Rapid Fiscal Execution for First Half of the Year

Focusing on Revitalizing the Local Economy
64.7% of Rapid Execution Target Achieved

Gwangjin District in Seoul announced on July 7 that it ranked first among the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul in the rapid execution of local finances for the first half of 2025.

The district explained that, as the economic downturn has continued for an extended period, it has focused on active fiscal execution from the beginning of the year to support a swift recovery in residents' livelihoods. Gwangjin District set its target rate for rapid execution in the first half at 61%, which is 6.5 percentage points higher than the 54.5% target suggested by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and made every effort to revitalize the local economy and stabilize residents' livelihoods.

Of the 249.5 billion KRW designated for rapid execution in the first half, the district executed 161.4 billion KRW, which is 64.7% of the total. This is 25.4 billion KRW more than the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's target amount of 136 billion KRW.

In particular, despite challenging circumstances, the district achieved notable results in consumption and investment sectors closely linked to the local economy and residents' livelihoods. It actively utilized guidelines for rapid execution, such as promoting the activation of advance payments and temporarily expanding negotiated contracts.

Additionally, the district monitored execution status and carefully managed investment and carryover projects through monthly budget execution briefings chaired by the deputy mayor. As all departments concentrated their efforts on rapid execution, the district executed 99.9 billion KRW in the second quarter, which is 17 billion KRW more than the target amount of 82.9 billion KRW.

Kim Kyungho, Mayor of Gwangjin District Office, stated, "Despite difficult fiscal conditions, all departments worked together to achieve meaningful results, aiming to quickly revive the stagnant local economy and support the stability of residents' livelihoods." He added, "We will continue to do our utmost to make Gwangjin District an even better place to live through tailored policies and efficient fiscal management that provide real benefits to residents."
