Guri City will provide support for up to seven years, offering an annual subsidy of up to KRW 1 million, equivalent to 1% of the outstanding balance of monthly rent and lease loans from financial institutions, to help alleviate the housing cost burden for newlywed couples without homes and to address the issue of low birth rates.

Eligible applicants must meet all of the following criteria as of the announcement date: both the resident registration and the address of the rented home must be in Guri City; the marriage registration must have been completed within the past seven years; the combined household income must be at or below 180% of the median income; and the outstanding balance of the monthly rent and lease loan from a financial institution must not exceed KRW 200 million. Only newlywed couples without homes who meet all these conditions are eligible.

However, those who have signed a lease contract with a first-degree direct relative or their spouse, recipients of low-interest loans from the Housing and Urban Fund (such as Bogeumjari, etc.), residents of public rental housing, recipients of livelihood, medical, or housing benefits, and beneficiaries of similar programs are excluded from eligibility.

Applicants should submit the required documents to the administrative welfare center of their residential district. Households selected through document screening will receive a payment in August equivalent to 1% of their outstanding loan balance (up to KRW 1 million per household).

Baek Kyunghyeon, Mayor of Guri City, said, "Through the implementation of this program, we hope to help stabilize the housing situation of newlywed couples who are experiencing economic difficulties in this era of high inflation."
