According to the police, at around 1:20 a.m. the previous day, A and his group were involved in a verbal altercation with three other foreign nationals of the same nationality in front of a club for foreigners located in Wolgok-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju. The argument escalated into a group fight. Police stated that A and his companions had visited the club to attend an acquaintance’s birthday party, became embroiled in a dispute with another group, were expelled from the club, and then engaged in a physical fight on the street outside.

During the altercation, A brandished a weapon he was carrying. A club employee who tried to break up the fight sustained minor injuries and received hospital treatment. A and his companions fled the scene immediately after the incident but were apprehended by the police within a day.

Police are currently tracking one member of A’s group who remains at large, as well as three members of the opposing group. The authorities plan to investigate the circumstances of the incident once all suspects are in custody and are considering whether to request an arrest warrant for A, who wielded the weapon.
