BASF Reappointed as Mercedes-Benz 'Asia Coatings Partner'... Supplying Glasurit and RM

Global chemical company BASF has extended its supply contract for automotive refinish coatings with German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz in the Asia region. This extension is expected to further solidify BASF's position in the Asian automotive aftermarket.

On July 7, BASF announced that Mercedes-Benz has decided to continue its supply contract for BASF’s premium paint brands 'Glasurit' and 'RM'. The continued supply will cover Mercedes-Benz's official repair service networks across the region, including South Korea, mainland China, Taiwan, Australia, Malaysia, and Thailand. In particular, BASF has newly expanded its partnership in China and has been recognized as a 'preferred partner' in Malaysia and Thailand. In Japan, the 'RM' brand has reportedly established itself as a trusted refinish coating for a long period of time.

BASF announced on the 7th that Mercedes-Benz has decided to continue its supply contract for its premium paint brands 'Glasurit' and 'RM'.

With this contract, BASF will focus on providing solutions that encompass both environmental friendliness and efficiency. A representative example is the 'Glasurit 100 Line', a water-based, low-VOC paint product line that maintains the quality of paintwork while minimizing environmental impact. In addition, BASF introduced the digital consulting program 'Bodyshop Boost' to the Asian market in June, which is designed to improve the profitability and operational efficiency of repair shops (bodyshops).

Susan Klug, Vice President of BASF’s Automotive Refinish Coatings business in Asia, stated, "The Asian market is highly competitive, but it is very meaningful to further strengthen our long-term partnership by continuing our collaboration with Mercedes-Benz," adding, "We will contribute to driving both sustainability and digital transformation."

Meanwhile, BASF continues to provide services to Mercedes-Benz and certified repair shops in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Mongolia, and Singapore, in addition to the countries covered by the contract.
