The Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) announced on July 7 that it will host the '2025 Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education Vocational Education Expo Go Together' at GUMICO in Gumi City for two days, from July 9 to July 10.
This year’s expo, held under the slogan “Gyeongbuk Vocational Education Realizing the Value of Togetherness,” is designed to present a vision for vocational education that responds to the changing industrial society and to provide a venue for career and employment information. In particular, the event is prepared to offer substantial benefits, such as opportunities for career exploration for middle school students and their parents, and actual recruitment opportunities for high school students preparing for employment.
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education Vocational Education Expo began in 1999 as the nation’s first “Industrial Education Festival” and marks its 27th edition this year, having steadily grown each year. This year’s expo will feature participation from more than 60 schools and institutions and 32 companies from the Gyeongbuk region, operating promotional experience booths and on-site recruitment centers.
Notably, this year special schools such as Gumi Hyedang School and Andong Yeongmyeong School will also participate, offering vocational education programs and employment opportunities for students with special needs. This is seen as a significant change that further highlights the expo’s theme of “Gyeongbuk Vocational Education Realizing the Value of Togetherness” for all students.
On the first floor of the expo venue, GUMICO, there will be a Vocational Education Promotion Hall, as well as the nation’s first Overseas Outstanding International Student Hall and a Global Employment Hall introducing overseas employment programs in countries such as Germany, Australia, and Singapore.
On the second floor main event hall, more than 60 promotional booths will be operated by vocational high schools, special schools, and related institutions, offering a variety of vocational education experience programs and counseling for academic and career paths. In addition, on the third floor on-site recruitment center, 32 companies including Nongshim Co., Ltd., Ajin Industrial Co., Ltd., and Ajou Steel Co., Ltd. will conduct on-site interviews to hire a total of 837 people.
Furthermore, with official sponsorship from SOOP, Korea’s leading internet broadcasting platform, the second day of the event on July 10 will feature events and participant experience programs at the live streaming booth on the first floor. At 3 p.m., a talk concert with popular SOOP streamers “Imda” and “Dancing Bear” will be held in the main event hall on the second floor.
The entire expo will be accessible online through the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education Vocational Education Expo website, the Gyeongbuk Office of Education YouTube channel “MatcoolmeotcoolTV,” and pop-ups on the websites of schools throughout the province. Various online participatory contents, such as QR code events, are also available.
Lim Jong-sik, Superintendent of the Gyeongbuk Office of Education, said, “Gyeongbuk vocational education has achieved remarkable results, ranking first in national employment rates for five consecutive years and winning the overall student division at the National Skills Competition for seven consecutive years,” adding, “Through this expo, we aim to widely promote Gyeongbuk vocational education as it moves toward the global standard, and to provide new opportunities for students with special needs, making this a meaningful event for all.”
