Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation and Tainan laid the foundation for tourism exchange cooperation by signing an MOU with the Tainan Travel Industry Association in 2018. In 2019 and 2020, the corporation participated in the Tainan International Women's College, introducing Gyeongbuk's tourism resources and continuing practical exchanges.

According to a recent analysis of the foreign tourist market conducted by the corporation, Taiwan recorded the highest growth rate in the number of foreign tourist arrivals in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the first quarter of 2024. This indicates that demand from Taiwanese tourists visiting Korea is recovering rapidly, highlighting the need to expand strategic cooperation with the Taiwanese market in the future.

The corporation stated that this meeting with the Tainan City Government is not just a one-time exchange, but that it will review various collaboration measures to ensure that it leads to tangible results.

President Kim Namil said, "Taiwan is an important partner for Korean tourism and a market with high potential," and added, "Based on this exchange, we plan to further strengthen cooperation with Tainan City and promote various marketing activities to attract more Taiwanese tourists."
