On July 4, the People Power Party visited the Yongsan Presidential Office to deliver a letter of protest regarding the supplementary budget bill, which includes allocations for special activity funds.
Yoo Sangbum, Senior Deputy Floor Leader of the People Power Party, and Kim Eunhye, Senior Deputy Policy Floor Leader, met with Woo Sangho, Senior Presidential Secretary for Political Affairs, in front of the Presidential Office in Yongsan, Seoul, and delivered the letter.
Yoo criticized, "The Democratic Party unilaterally cut last year's special activity funds for the Presidential Office and the prosecution, claiming that 'the administration can function without special activity funds.' He continued, "Now, without a single word of apology for creating this situation, they are unilaterally trying to increase the special activity funds for the Presidential Office by using their majority, which is an act of mocking the opposition and disregarding the people. We are waiting for a sincere apology from the President regarding this matter."
Woo responded, "Regardless of the circumstances, we feel sorry to the people that our position has changed. In reality, there are indeed several difficulties when it comes to actual operations. We hope for your understanding of this situation," adding, "We will proceed with greater caution in the future to ensure that we do not contradict ourselves in our actions."
At the National Assembly Special Committee on Budget and Accounts, a supplementary budget bill totaling 31.8 trillion won, including 10.5 billion won for special activity funds for the Presidential Secretariat and others, was passed under the leadership of the Democratic Party.
