Kyungil University (President Jung Hyuntae) has been selected as the host institution for the '2025 SME Contract Department Support Project' conducted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
Accordingly, Kyungil University announced on July 4 that it will launch a new master's program in the Department of Mobility Semiconductors, specializing in the smart mobility and system semiconductor industries, starting from the 2026 academic year. The university aims to actively foster core talent to lead regional strategic industries.
The 'SME Contract Department' is a system that provides degree programs tailored to the needs of the industrial field for employees of small and medium-sized enterprises and young people, enabling them to enhance their professional capabilities while balancing work and study.
Through this contract department, Kyungil University will introduce a customized master's program for those who are employed before pursuing further studies, recruiting 20 students for the program.
The curriculum of the contract department will follow a hybrid model that combines theory and practice, consisting of problem-based learning (PBL) and company-linked practical projects.
Students admitted through the simultaneous employment system will receive full tuition scholarships, while employees who have worked for more than six months will be supported with scholarships covering 65% of their tuition.
Kyungil University plans to strengthen job expertise for current employees and enhance the competitiveness of SMEs through close cooperation with participating companies. At the same time, the university aims to establish a virtuous cycle that fosters talent optimized for the demands of the regional industry.
In particular, by operating this contract department, Kyungil University seeks to reinforce its role as a regional hub university leading the transformation of the smart mobility industry and to make a tangible contribution to the development of the system semiconductor industry in North Gyeongsang Province.
Park Hyunsoo, head of the Early Employment Semiconductor Graduate School Project Group, stated, "Through this contract department, we are now able to nurture master's-level practical talent who can be immediately deployed to advanced industrial sites," adding, "We will further develop this as a regionally customized model for cultivating high-level talent, created in collaboration among universities, companies, and local governments."
