The Only Direct Cheongju-Kobe Route Opens
Improved Convenience for Kansai-Bound Travelers
On July 4, Aero K Airlines announced that it would operate a series of charter flights to Kobe, a key city in Japan's Kansai region.
This route is the only direct flight from Cheongju International Airport to Kobe, and is expected to significantly reduce inconvenience for travelers from the Chungcheong region, southern Gyeonggi region, and Yeongho-Nam region, who previously had to travel via Osaka.
The charter flights will operate a total of three times, scheduled for August 8, August 11, and August 14.
Flights will depart from Cheongju Airport at 1:45 p.m. and arrive at Kobe Airport at 3:15 p.m. The return flights will depart Kobe at 4:15 p.m. and arrive in Cheongju at 5:45 p.m.
Aero K Airlines currently operates seven Airbus A320 aircraft and plans to add one more each in September and October.
With this expansion, the airline is considering converting the Kobe route into a regular service and is also actively pursuing a resumption of flights during this year's winter schedule.
An Aero K representative stated, "We are continuously expanding various international routes using Cheongju Airport as our base," and added, "Starting with the Kobe charter flights, we plan to sequentially introduce new routes to Hiroshima, Kitakyushu, Weihai and Yantai in China, Okinawa in Japan, and Nha Trang in Vietnam."
Kobe is a popular tourist city known for Kobe beef, Arima Onsen, and Kitano Ijinkan Street, and is a favored destination in the Kansai region thanks to its exotic atmosphere and excellent accessibility.
In particular, with the recent completion of the international terminal at Kobe Airport, there are growing expectations for expanded routes beyond Incheon. Aero K's new service is expected to offer travelers in Korea's central region a new travel option.
