Cycle Across Four Sea Bridges... Busan to Launch "Seven Bridge Tour" in September

"Seven Bridge Tour - Riding in Busan" Kickoff Briefing Session

A non-competitive global festival where participants can cycle across four of Busan's sea bridges, as well as through underpasses and tunnels, will take place in the city.

On July 4, the Busan Metropolitan Government announced that it will host the "Seven Bridge Tour," the nation's only non-competitive cycling event connecting sea bridges, underpasses, and tunnels, this coming September.

At 1:30 p.m. on July 4, the city will hold a kickoff briefing session in the meeting room on the seventh floor of City Hall to prepare for the event and begin building a comprehensive implementation system in collaboration with relevant organizations.

Key stakeholders, including the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters, the city’s Sports Council, the Cycling Federation, and local cycling clubs, attended the briefing to share strategies on traffic control, safety measures, and public outreach. The organizers also decided to strengthen practical communication channels to ensure seamless collaboration throughout the event.

The city aims to develop this tour into a global brand that goes beyond a simple cycling event by integrating tourism, recreational sports, and eco-friendly values. This year, the course will focus on four sea bridges, with plans to gradually expand the range of routes and structures included in future editions.

The "Seven Bridge Tour" consists of a 77-kilometer circular course connecting Busan’s four sea bridges, two underpasses, and one tunnel. The route starts at BEXCO, passes through Gwangandaegyo Bridge, Sinseondae Underpass, Busanhangdaegyo Bridge, Namhangdaegyo Bridge, Cheonma Tunnel, Jangpyeong Underpass, and Eulsukdodaegyo Bridge, reaching the Maekdo Ecological Park turnaround point before returning to Gwangandaegyo Bridge.

On the day of the event, vehicle access will be restricted, allowing participants to experience sections usually closed to bicycles. Various programs will also be offered for citizens and tourists. The upper deck of Gwangandaegyo Bridge will be open to the public free of charge, and there will be a parade, BMX performances, and culinary events in collaboration with "Festival Siwol." Food trucks featuring Michelin-starred chefs and special programs for international tourists are also planned.

Additionally, hands-on programs such as bicycle maintenance workshops, traffic safety campaigns, and children's cycling education will be held in the BEXCO area. Early bird ticket sales will begin on July 16, followed by general sales starting July 22. All proceeds will be used to operate the event and enhance safety infrastructure.

Lee Joonseung, Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs of Busan, emphasized, "The Seven Bridge Tour will become a signature event that embodies Busan's identity as a maritime city. We hope it brings vitality and enjoyment to citizens and enhances the city's global brand value."
