"Meeting Passenger Needs"... Sejong City Adjusts City Bus Routes

Enhancing Operational Efficiency and Safety

"Meeting Passenger Needs"... Sejong City Adjusts City Bus Routes

Starting from July 12, four city bus routes in Sejong City will be adjusted to enhance the stability and efficiency of local public transportation operations. The routes subject to adjustment are city buses 201, 273, 991, and 272. Details on the revised routes can be found on the city hall website.

According to Sejong City on July 4, route 201 currently operates between the northern side of the Government Sejong Complex, Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital, and Eojin Middle School. Route 273 passes through Nuri-dong, Sejong City Library, Naritjae Village, City Hall, and the Joint Campus. Due to the dedicated lanes of the central Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, these two routes have been unable to make U-turns at the Eojin intersection, which has led to ongoing concerns about safety accidents.

Therefore, route 201 will be rerouted via Eojin-dong, and route 273 will be adjusted to pass through the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, thereby eliminating the U-turn sections.

In addition, route 991 is the longest local route, operating from Daegok-ri in Sojeong-myeon to the National Research Complex via National Road No. 1. To reduce driver fatigue, the detour section of route 991 has been minimized, and the route will now operate via Hannuri-daero instead of Namsejong-ro, shortening the travel time by about 10 minutes.

Route 272 has been adjusted based on an analysis of commuter demand in Residential Zones 3 and 4, so that it now passes through major residential areas along Dalbit-ro (Areum-dong to Jongchon-dong) and Dajeong Jungang-ro (Dajeong-dong to Saerom-dong). The plan is to actively encourage commuter ridership by improving access between Residential Zones 1 and 2, Residential Zones 3 and 4 waterfront shopping areas, and major institutions.

Moreover, operating hours have also been adjusted. To improve convenience for passengers, the last bus for route 201 has been extended from 10:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and the interval for route 275 has been reduced from 30 minutes to 25 minutes, among other timetable adjustments.

Cheon Heungbin, Director of the Transportation Bureau, stated, "As these route adjustments take into account both the convenience of public transportation users and the working conditions of transport workers, we will continue to reflect citizens' opinions in the future."
