Jeonnam Province will begin sequentially opening 54 beaches starting from July 5, officially welcoming summer vacationers.

The beaches in the Jeonnam region are renowned for their fine white sand and clear water, attracting countless visitors every year.

On July 5, nine beaches including Yeosu Ungcheon and Mosageum will open first, followed by beaches in Jangheung, Mokpo, and Boseong in the second week. In the third week, beaches in Hampyeong, Goheung, Haenam, Muan, Yeonggwang, Jindo, and Shinan will open, and in the fourth week, Wando will follow.

Jeonnam Province has invested a total of 2.7 billion won to establish convenience facilities such as showers and restrooms, maintain safety facilities including watchtowers and information boards, and secure 3,718 pieces of safety equipment such as jet skis and lifebuoys, as well as 271 safety personnel. Environmental inspections for maintaining clean water and sandy beaches have also been completed.

During the opening period, a variety of programs will be offered for visitors.

At nine locations including Yeosu Ungcheon, Wando Sinji Myeongsashipri, and Goheung Namyeol Haedoji, visitors can enjoy various marine leisure sports such as canoeing, kayaking, and surfing. At Hampyeong Dolmeori and Yeonggwang Gamami, there are hands-on experiences for catching tidal flat creatures such as clams, eels, and shrimp.

At Wando Sinji Myeongsashipri Beach, known as a marine healing destination, a barefoot walking and CrossFit competition, as well as a marine healing Chimaek Festival, will be held on the opening day, July 12. During the beach season, there will also be marine leisure sports experiences, sand exhibitions, and flying board shows. In particular, the marine healing center, equipped with 16 therapy rooms utilizing seaweed and tidal flats, allows visitors to enjoy the summer indoors as well.

Additionally, at Goheung Namyeol Haedoji Beach, the Drone Summer Beach Festa will be held for two days starting July 26, featuring performances, drone soccer and fishing competitions and experiences, as well as drone delivery demonstrations and other unique programs.

At Jangheung Sumun Beach, visitors can enjoy the sea with cool night breezes at the Mid-Summer Night Beach Dalneoul Music Concert and Book Concert.

Haenam Songho Beach, with its shallow waters and dense pine trees aged 100 to 200 years, is a beautiful and relaxing destination.

This year, new facilities for people with disabilities will be added, including wheelchair-accessible parasol paths, water wheelchairs, and shower wheelchairs, to better accommodate vacationers.

Park Taekeon, Director of the Island and Marine Policy Division of Jeonnam Province, said, "When visiting the beach, please always be aware that unexpected accidents can happen at any time and make sure to follow water safety rules."
