Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sangkeun) has completed the final inspection for the expansion of the Gamcheon Port general pier and will begin full-scale operations in the second half of the year.
This project was promoted to secure a dedicated general cargo pier to replace North Port Piers 1·2, whose functions ended due to the North Port redevelopment. As a project included in the 4th Basic Port Plan, a total of approximately 75 billion KRW was invested to newly construct three berths and a 28,600㎡ yard in the area of Gamcheon Port Piers 3·4 in Seo-gu, Busan.
After completing administrative procedures such as security evaluation and designation as a bonded area, BPA plans to operate the pier as a public pier starting in the second half of this year.
Song Sangkeun, President of Busan Port Authority, stated, "The Gamcheon Port general pier will serve as a foundation to smoothly accommodate demand for non-container cargo handling," and emphasized, "We will expand port infrastructure as planned to contribute to revitalizing the local economy and strengthening the nation's logistics competitiveness."
