On June 20, a Chinese customer visiting the Lotte Duty Free Jeju Branch suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed in the parking lot. Lotte Duty Free employees at the scene immediately rushed to check the customer's condition. Kim Dongjin, staff at the Jeju Branch, pulled out the customer's rolled tongue to secure the airway, while Kim Jungwoo, assistant manager, performed CPR. Other employees assisted by directing vehicles and controlling the crowd.

About three minutes later, when the paramedics arrived, the customer had already regained pulse and breathing and was safely handed over to them. The customer was transported to a nearby hospital in Jeju, later regained consciousness, and returned to their home country.

Earlier, on May 28, a woman in her 70s lost consciousness and collapsed on the floor in the international departure lounge at Jeju Airport. Yoon Namho, manager of the Jeju Airport Branch, who was passing by the store, discovered the patient and administered emergency first aid. The woman in her 70s regained consciousness within about ten minutes before the ambulance arrived at the airport. In recognition of his efforts, Yoon received the Best Customer Service Award from Korea Airports Corporation, a plaque of appreciation from Jeju Tourism Organization, and a Heart Saver certificate from Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters.

Since 2018, Lotte Duty Free has been conducting annual 'Citizen Safety Guardian' training, which includes disaster evacuation drills for earthquakes and fires, CPR practice, and training on the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). All branches conduct safety drills once every quarter.

To strengthen its safety personnel, Lotte Duty Free has been supporting the acquisition of Level 1 Fire Safety Manager certification and national technical professional qualifications since 2023. So far, the company has trained eight fire safety managers and two technicians and industrial engineers. This year, five more fire safety-related professionals are expected to be trained.
