Police: "No Violation of Regulations"
Jarvis and Villains, the operator of the tax platform SamjeomSam, announced on July 3 that the Suseo Police Station in Seoul has cleared the company of charges related to alleged violations of regulations prohibiting the introduction and brokerage of tax agents through its TA Service.

The TA Service is an advertising-based platform launched by SamjeomSam in May of last year during the regular comprehensive income tax filing period, which connects customers in need of tax consultation with partner tax accountants.
In November of last year, the Korea Association of Certified Public Tax Accountants filed a police report against Jarvis and Villains, claiming that SamjeomSam was illegally connecting specific customers to specific tax accountants through the TA Service and receiving a certain fee in return.
However, the police determined that users could access information about other tax offices besides the initially displayed one, and that the display of advertisements was decided according to the individual intentions of each tax accountant.
The police also found that SamjeomSam was not involved in setting tax agent fees in any way, and that, since consumers directly select the information themselves, the service is clearly distinct from brokerage activities led by intermediaries. Meanwhile, the association, dissatisfied with the police decision, has filed another objection with the prosecution.
